An arrest of a wanted B.C. man turns into a Drug trafficking investigation

Members  from the Patrol and K-9 units located a male near a downtown establishment with outstanding arrest warrants.  When attempting to take him into custody, he fled on foot at which time K9 was deployed and the subject was apprehended.

A search incidental to his arrest revealed a substance believed to be cocaine.

The 26 year old Vancouver, B.C. subject will be charged with the following offences:

  • Trafficking in cocaine contrary to Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
  • Resisting arrest contrary to Section 129 of the Criminal Code.

He will be held in custody and taken before a Justice of the Peace to be remanded for court on Monday.  The accused will also be given a new court date to answer to charges that he was wanted for in another Saskatchewan jurisdiction.
