EPS received a report of a Fraud/scam where the complainant received multiple calls from someone identifying themselves as being from Amazon. The caller requested $600 for the payment of a recent purchase, however the complainant refused to send any money and didn’t provide any further information to the caller. The calls originated from various spoofed phone numbers including numbers that are local. The scammers use this method of using various numbers to hide their locations as well as to attempt to make the call appear legit. The public is reminded to be very aware of this and other similar scams and to also report it to the Anti Fraud Centre by calling 1-888-495-8501.
