Drugs, Weapons and Cash Seized During Traffic Stop- April 18th, 2020

Just after 1730 hours last night (April 18th, 2020) members of the Estevan Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Highway 39 on the west side of the city.  Located inside the vehicle was a significant amount of contraband (methamphetamines) as well as cash.  Several rounds of ammunition, a machete, scales, charged needles and other items used for the sale and distribution of illegal contraband was seized.  In addition, other stolen property was located in the vehicle.

Two males, both from Estevan, were arrested under the federal Control Drugs and Substances Act.

A 33 year old male is facing the following charges:

  1. Possession for the purpose of trafficking of a controlled substance  Methamphetamine – Sec 5(2) CDSA
  2. Trafficking in a controlled substance  Methamphetamine -Sec 5(1) CDSA
  3. Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public – Sec 88 CC
  4. Possession of property obtained by crime – Sec 354(1)(a) CC
  5. Possession of a weapon while prohibited from doing so – Sec 117.01(1) CC

A 19 year old male is also facing the following charges:

  1. Possession for the purpose of trafficking of a controlled substance  Methamphetamine – Sec 5(2) CDSA
  2. Trafficking in a controlled substance  Methamphetamine  -Sec 5(1) CDSA
  3. Possession of weapon dangerous to the public – Sec 88 CC
  4. Possession of Property obtained by crime – Sec 354(1)(a) CC
  5. Fail to comply with a condition of an Undertaking – Sec 145(5)(a) CC

The vehicle they were operating has been seized as offence related property.

The matter remains under investigation.
