Media Release-Night Shift
The Estevan Police Service were kept busy over the long weekend where there was a total of 54 calls for service.
A total of 25 tickets were issued under the Traffic Safety Act.
Police attended to 7 calls that were dispatched as domestic disputes- No physical altercations were reported and members were able to resolve all matters and no charges were laid. The Police and Crisis Team will follow up with these files and provide on-going support and assistance.
Police were dispatched to a local convenience store for a report of a possible person in distress in a motor vehicle. Further investigation resulted in an Impaired by drug investigation.
Police conducted a traffic stop with a male in the industrial area of the city. A mandatory Approved Screening Device demand was made where the driver provided a sample of breath resulting in a 72 hour suspension and a vehicle impound.
Police were dispatched to an Elementary School for a report of children on the roof. 3 youths were located and spoken to. No further action required.
Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in the Trojan area- A 25 year old male from BC was arrested and charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Possession for the Purpose of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Resist Arrest and Proceeds pf Crime Exceeding Five Thousand dollars. The male was remanded into custody and will appear in court on February 21, 2023. A 41 year old female from Estevan was also arrested but later released without any charges.
