Police are still receiving complaints of phone scams. They vary from the caller claiming to be from CRA, banks or other agencies. Some threaten people that if they are not complying with their demands, they will be arrested. Some callers claim they have discovered some suspicious activity with victim’s banking and try to obtain credit card information. During these calls, the thieves are looking for personal information or money. It is imperative that if you are being threatened or pressured over the phone in any way, hang up and speak to police. Never give personal information over the phone and do not buy gift cards, Google Play, EBay or these types of cards to make payments.
Police were called to a local drinking establishment to remove a male who was intoxicated and refused to leave. He was located nearby and arrested for public intoxication and lodged in cells.
