Media Update: November 27th, 2018

As a result of the ongoing investigation the Estevan Police Service Drug and Intelligence Unit has laid additional charges to Landon Boutin, Rosslyn Knudsen, Robbie Shiels, Heather Birdsell, and Zachary Gessner.  Total drugs seized during the investigation include 47.1 grams of methamphetamine, 16.5 grams of cocaine and two hydromorphone pills.  Total combined street value of the drugs seized is estimated at $11,550.00.

The additional charges include:

1)  Trafficking cocaine contrary to S.5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

2)  Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine contrary to S.5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

3)  Possession for the purpose of trafficking hydromorphone contrary to S.5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

The Estevan Police Service Drug and Intelligence Unit have conducted an extensive investigation into five individuals involved in trafficking methamphetamine and various other street level drugs within the city of Estevan.

On November 20, 2018 the Drug and Intelligence Unit, with assistance from members of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, and RCMP conducted a traffic stop just North of Weyburn, SK. One male and two females were taken into custody without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted with the seizure of methamphetamine, also known as crystal meth, and other items used for the sale and distribution of methamphetamine. The vehicle was subsequently seized as offence related property.

Following the traffic stop members of the Estevan Police Service Containment and Warrant Entry Team, along with patrol members, executed search warrants at two apartment suites, located on the 900 block of 4th Street and the 1200 block of 3rd Street. Two males and one female were taken into custody without incident. A search of the apartment suites resulted in the seizure of additional methamphetamine and other items used for trafficking meth. One imitation hand gun was also seized.

Landon Boutin (21), Rosslynn Knudsen (28), Robbie Shiels (37), Zachary Gessner (25), and Heather Birdsell (30), all from Estevan, Saskatchewan have been charged with the following offences:

1). Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence of trafficking a controlled substance contrary to S. 465(1)(c) of the Criminal Code of Canada. 2). Trafficking methamphetamine contrary to S.5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. 3). Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine contrary to S.5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Knudsen was additionally charged with the following offences:

1). Possession for the purpose of trafficking psilocybin contrary to S.5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

2). Possession of an imitation weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public contrary to S.88(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Gessner was charged with breaching a Probation Order where he failed to comply with the order of keeping the peace and be of good behaviour contrary to S. 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

All individuals appeared at the Estevan Provincial Court House on November 22, 2018.
