Police Charge Estevan Resident for Public Health Order Violation

As a result of an incident on Sunday, January 31, 2021, the Estevan Police Service have charged a 43 year old Estevan resident under the Public Health Act as well as the Trespass to Property Act.

Officers were called to a local business around noon on Sunday to a report of a person refusing to comply with the current Public Health Order relating to face coverings.

The subject refused wear a mask including when asked to do so by employees.  He also refused when the request was made by police after being called to the scene.    When asked to leave the store prior to police arriving he also failed to do so.

A fine of $2800 dollars, which includes a victim surcharge was issued for the health violation.  He was also charged for trespassing and if convicted for this offence could face a maximum penalty of $2000 dollars.
