A multi-agency Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) operation conducted in Estevan on June 20 & 21, 2023, has resulted in the following:
- 85 Summary Offence Tickets issued to motorists, with charges including:
- 15 – Failing to stop at stop sign or traffic light
- 10 – Exceeding posted speed limit
- 5 – Failing to wear seatbelt
- 16 – Using an electronic communication device while driving
- 21 – Vehicle equipment regulation offences
- 1 – Drivers license suspension and vehicle seizure due to drug impairment
- 1 – Possession of unmarked tobacco
- 16 – Other charges under the Traffic Safety Act
- 4 mandatory breath samples were provided on Approved Screening Devices (ASD’s) with no impaired drivers being detected.
- 89 inspection tickets / warnings were issued under the Vehicle Equipment Regulations Act.
- 13 child car seats were inspected and 4 new child car seats were given away to motorists in need of replacement seats for their child.
- 17 commercial vehicles were inspected with 4 passing inspection, 6 requiring attention and 7 being taken out of service.
